The Divine Quest

Session 2

After his night of fun Pat decided that he was going to fly over to where the party was heading. He got to the trapping village and met Devin. They both proceeded to the ruins and arrived in time to see two ogres outside of the church. After defeating them the party got together and descovered that the guy that they had saved was no where to be seen even though he had a broken leg they also found on the ogres a disk with four symbols and a hole in the middle, Pat put his finger in it and it closed into a ring. After a couple of seconds they heard something like stone sliding on stone from the church and decided to look into it. They discovered that the altar was actually covering a passageway. They entered the passageway and were ambushed by a lone Drow. Just before they landed the final killing blow they were stopped by the same man that they had saved. Introducing himself as Sovren and a friend to the drow he proceeded to explain that he had the drow stand as a guard so he could explore. He also said that while the battle with the ogres the drow had healed him and they both slipped in to the ruins. The party showed mercy and was offered riches for helping Sovren search the ruins. They found a table with a bowl, a pit, and two doors (1 smashed and rotten, the other just like new), The room was lit by small elementals in glass jars and was in the shape of a hatchet. The bowl had 4 symbols and an empty hole in the middle. They then went to the new looking door and picked a lock which instead of opening the door it opened a hole. Pat put his fist with the ring on it and opened the door revealing a library. Everyone started looking around and Devin found out that the books were in a certain order of material of book and size, but there was a misplaced book which, upon Ryans investigation, was warded with ruins throughout the book. Sovrin asked to investigate it while the rest of the party investigated some more. Kristen having a strange feeling about Sovrin decided to detect evil. They were more evil than anything that shes ever dealt with before. Sovrin and the drow took an invisibility potion and teleported away. Glen finished his investigation of the desk and found a hidden compartment underneath. There was another book, and three pages, 1 page was a prophesy about the books, another was the description of the bowl and how to access the next room, and the third was about armor and weapons of the gods. The party checked out the other door and had a wonderful conversation with a door knocker and stumbled upon a couple of Gnolls. Devin sneaked into the room saw they were playing a throughing knife game and decided to join. He threw his knife then sneaked away. The gnolls discovered the party then realizing they were outnumbered decided to run. The party went back to the table and bowl and put each element that the symbol represented and entered the room.

Session 3

Upon entering the passageway they decided to take a rest. They all dreamed of a woman who was very intimidating and seemed powerful. The party discovered that she was a goddess and that she wanted the books brought to her they discussed it upon waking up and half the group wanted to leave and bring the books to the goddess and the others didn’t want to. The party split with Kristen, Mike, and Ryan leaving while Glenn, Marci, Devin, and Pat staying and not wanting to give up the book. Because they were a big help Kristen told them that she would not kill them for the book but the next time they meet they were going to get the book one way or another. They left to go get the other book. The party of four walked down the passageway and found wizards work room. A small library, a couple of tables, the same elemental lights as before and a desk with a humanoid figure. The party walked up to him and found him to be an Pleroma Aeon and he told the party to find the keys and keep traveling through his tower and they would find the armor and weapons that they would need to complete their task. After this they were to go and get the books and bring them to the First World where they would meet a friend and give him the books. He gave the party rings like the one Pat wore and told them that this rings would help them survive the planes and to minimize the effect that they would normally have to beings of the material world. Then after he told the party what to do the room turned dark except for a fire. Everything was covered with dust and the Aeon was gone. They looked at was he was working on at the desk and discovered a small book that described what the tower was and found out that each level was an access point to different planes. the went through the fireplace and found themselves in a similar room but when they left through the door it was the plane of fire. They crossed a small bridge that disappeared just as they got off of it and found they were on the main bridge to a city of brass. They ended up right behind a pair of salamanders that upon discovering the group decided to kill the party. The party proved to be tougher and defeated them. After looting the bodies they found a note that were military orders to search out points of weakness. The party got to the gate and gained access with the note and got to the first inn that they found. After their very questionable meal they went digging through the library and found the name Firnan, the name of one of the sorcerers sons. After reading they discovered that he had a home under the city and decided to go there but after of course they tried to make some more gold. Glenn and Devin decided to enter into a cage match with one of the Efreeti and put all of their money in, except for the portion they put into a resurrection deal which stated upon death they would be brought back and they would forfeit all gold. They won and gave 500 but still made a good amount of spare change.

Session 4-6

After the party won their gold they decided to take a look into Frinan’s home. As they walked around the ledge they saw an azer with a length of chain on his arm leading what looked like into the stone wall behind him. They approached him and noticed that he was positioned in front of a door. The azer noticed the party and promptly pulled on the chain. They went down the hallway and entered into the guards room. They were challenged by six azers and battle was held. During the battle Marci noticed 2 elves and a panther locked up in individual cells. While the rest of the party kept the Azers busy Marci picked the locks and freed them both. The two elves were Ashley the Summoner and Rachel the Druid. They then went into the next room which was a torture chamber and fought 2 more Azers and an Efreeti. They survived and went into the next room which was a ramp up and two stacks of barrels. It ended up being a trap and almost killed the party but they survived yet again. They entered the next room which had 4 square holes int the room and three doorways. They were then noticed by the rooms guardians which ended up being Magma Elementals of the medium size. There were four of them and when the party killed two the last two combined into a large elemental. The first doorway was to a bedroom where after some of the party memebers decided to bounce on the bed, some of the others examined the closet and the chest. They found a number of gold and headed to the doorway straight across. They entered and found a Stone Golem, upon realizing that the creature didn’t see them they left and continued on. They walked into the next room and found a waiting room and could see the throne. They walked forward and saw their old friend from the ruins talking to a man who was large and had black markings on his skin. Upon seeing the party the two men parted and the man in the throne challenged the party to hand over the book. The party declined and a trap was sprung releasing dozens of mephits. They fought and killed them with no problem and then the Man joined in. After a strenuous battle the party won and gathered their treasure. Among the treasure was a deck of many things. The team was left with both good and bad but the worst part was that the druid was now without a soul!
